Tayvallich Wildlife Club visit

Led by local naturalist and wildlife filmmaker John Aitchison and wildlife expert Mary Lou Aitchison, the children from The Tayvallich Wildlife Club came to Danna on Tayvallich Estate to go goose spotting.

The children walked to mid-Danna where they were able to see geese through John's fantastic telescope and learn about the 4 types of geese that spend their winters on the luscious green fields at Danna. They also had the opportunity to spot red, roe and sika deer using the estates thermal spotter. The deer were hiding in thick vegetation so it would have been impossible to see without the thermal spotter.

The children enjoyed hot chocolate and cookies at Mid Danna cottage and had worksheets and colouring which showed the difference between the geese species. Amazing day thanks to John and Mary Lou for inspiring the next generation and Martin and Ewan for the use of their house!

Rare Greenland White-fronted geese, overwintering at Tayvallich before they return to the Arctic to breed.
